Welcome to Hideout Hotel!

We’ve been working hard to get everything up-and-running as soon as possible, so that we can welcome in both visitors to the City of Culture and locals with open arms. After working closely with local construction teams and suppliers, we’ve converted what was three floors of derelict retail and office units into a high class development of 15 one- and two-bedroom apartments...and we’re very excited about it!

The last few months have been so hectic but everything is on track and we’re thrilled that Hideout is everything we wanted it to be. It looks incredible - with art and furniture created by the region’s top talent; it’s in a fantastic location, and fits perfectly with all the amazing things that are happening in our city. We’ve done everything we can to support local businesses, and we want that to continue.

We’ve been getting lots of good questions from you all about the hotel and things to do nearby, so I’m going to do my best to answer you below. Fire away!

Q: So, who is behind Hideout Hotel?

A: We are! We’re a family from Hull, and proud of it. We’ve worked in the construction industry for over 25 years and have wanted to develop a project like this for our City for many years, we used our own construction firm Allenby Commercial Construction Limited to carry out the works on Hideout.

Q: How did you know what kind of place you wanted Hideout to be?

We always wanted to create the sort of place we’d book in ourselves if we were staying out of town. Hull has so much to offer, and it’s all here on our doorstep. There are quirky pubs, cafe bars and restaurants around the marina, in Prince’s Dock and throughout the old town, which is perfect for what we’re trying to do.

Q: Why did you choose Trinity Square as the location for Hideout?

We’re within walking distance of the marina and Fruit Market area which has become Hull’s main festival district, so staying with us brings the best of both worlds. It is in the heart of the popular Old Town, next to Trinity Market and Hull Minister, and is just a short walk from the Museums Quarter and The Deep.

Q: What does Hull have to offer visitors?

For those of you who’ve never visited before, Hull is a city bursting at the seams with history and character. From peaceful walks along Hull Marina to vibrant nights on the town, Hull has plenty to offer no matter whether you’re after a shot of culture or a lively night out with friends. And of course, as the UK’s City of Culture 2017, there’s plenty going on for everyone this year.

Q: What would you recommend for sightseers?

Arty types definitely won’t be disappointed by Hull’s flourishing cultural scene. The stunning Ferens Art Gallery has undergone a £4.5 million refurbishment just in time for the rush of visitors and the arrival of The Turner Prize - one of the world’s most prestigious (and controversial) arts awards.

Quirky art instalments are popping up all over the place, including ‘The Weeping Window’ which is made up of the 5,800 ceramic poppies which were featured at the Tower of London in 2014; pouring out of one of the windows of the Maritime Museum and forming a carpet on the floor of Queen Victoria Square. On 10th April, a meadow of LEGO daffodils sprouted up literally overnight in the city centre and were there for a week, so I’m keeping a keen eye out for more spontaneous things like that too!

Q: Is there much in the way of live acts and performances?

Theatre lovers can definitely get their fill in Hull, with plenty of productions taking place here during 2017, including pieces at the famous Hull Truck Theatre, and Slung Low’s ‘Flood’ - a story of what happens to Hull when the waters come. And, whether you love the idea or hate it, Hull’s General Cemetery is set to become the backdrop to Circa’s performance ‘Depart’, where acrobats will swing from trees above the gravestones. If you want something with a bit more ‘life’, how about Radio 1’s Big Weekend - coming to Burton Constable in May?

Q: Where are the best places to shop?

Hull has loads of shopping centres with all the go-to high street retailers including St. Stephen’s, Princes Quay and the Prospect Centre, to name but a few! Trinity Market and Hepworth Arcade are on the doorstep of Hideout and offer traditional stalls and street food, we recommend paying Beasley's Casual Clothing a visit whilst you're browsing around. There are tons of independent shops and boutiques, dotted about the city. Further afield, the stunning market town of Beverley, offers an upmarket shopping experience in a beautiful and historic setting, and is well worth a trip.
