Who Says Rainy Days are Dull?
Who says rainy days are boring? Around here, there are loads of places to keep you entertained when it’s miserable outside…
The Escape Rooms
Locked in a mysterious room with only 60 minutes to get out...these adrenaline-fuelled places are popping up all over the country, and Hull is lucky enough to have both Escape Hull and Escape Room Hull. Both have uniquely themed rooms to combat with friends including ‘Taken’, ‘Contagion’ and even a virtual reality room!
The Deep
This award-winning conservational aquarium is a stunning landmark which is home to over 3,500 fish including magnificent sharks and rays. The penguins are bound to steal your heart and the two new loggerhead sea turtles have been getting a lot of attention! The Deep also has a spectacular evening restaurant; perfect for special occasions or a unique dining experience.
Museums
Hull has loads of museums, and most of them are free! The Streetlife Museum is a time capsule of days gone by, and The Hull & East Riding Museum is a free trip through history, covering 235 million years, from the mammoths to the Saxons and everything in between. There’s also Hull Maritime Museum, which explores the seafaring history of the city.
Ferens Art Gallery
Arty types definitely won’t be disappointed by Hull’s flourishing cultural scene. The stunning Ferens Art Gallery has undergone a £4.5 million refurbishment just in time for the rush of visitors and the arrival of The Turner Prize - one of the world’s most prestigious (and controversial) arts awards.
Vue
There’s nothing like a film and some good grub on a rainy day to get you feeling cosy. Princes Quay is home to a massive Vue Cinema, and is surrounded by plenty of places to grab a delicious bite to eat, including Nando’s, Pizza Express and Ask Italian, to name a few. You could also do some shopping while you’re there, as Princes Quay has all the big high-street brands under one roof.
